Montclair Chef is working on providing exclusive access to curated stages within Europe's most celebrated 1, 2, and 3-star Michelin restaurants. This would not be a student internship program. This would be tailored to professional chefs, it would be a career-defining opportunity for talented, professional chefs to refine their skills, learn from legendary mentors, and add a globally respected name to their CV.

Your Path to a World-Class Kitchen

No. This program is exclusively for trained, professional chefs with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in high-quality restaurants. It is designed as a career acceleration tool for established culinary professionals who wish to experience a world-class environment.
This varies by restaurant and country. Some of our partner restaurants may offer a stipend to cover basic living costs, while others are unpaid but offer accommodation and meals. We provide full transparency on the terms of each specific stage before you commit.
The standard duration for a stage is between one to two weeks and up to one month. This often provides the time to fully integrate into the kitchen team, learn the restaurant's systems and philosophies, and make a meaningful contribution. Longer durations may be available on a case-by-case basis, and for up to 6 months.
Yes, there is a small administration and processing fee required to secure your placement.
Yes, you will be provided with a list of potential restaurants. However, availability depends on the time of year, and some restaurants are more popular and therefore more competitive to access.
Our current stage opportunities are primarily in Europe, with partners in Italy, France, and Spain. We also have exclusive access to Michelin-starred restaurants in the UK and Scandinavia. We frequently expand our network, so by applying you will be guided through our most up-to-date list of partner restaurants.
In some cases, yes. However, not all partner restaurants provide accommodation or meals, and you may be required to arrange and pay for your own.
We encourage all stagiaires (interns) to take out personal insurance. Most of our partner restaurants already provide coverage and will issue an internship agreement, allowing you to train within their professional kitchens. Each country and establishment may have different requirements, so we ensure our chefs are well taken care of. Additionally, you may need to check with your country of residence regarding specific visas or employment terms to confirm you are covered and eligible to work abroad.
No, you are responsible for arranging and paying for your own travel expenses.
If you are unable to attend your stage on time, the restaurant may not allow you to join, as they follow strict schedules. Unless it is a genuine case of force majeure (unforeseeable circumstances), you may lose your placement. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee rescheduling with the same restaurant. However, we may keep your file active and work with you to arrange one new stage at another partner restaurant, at no additional cost, within the following 3 months.
